For Ellinor Alm, it was a lifesaver – she finished primary school, got into her dream high school and regained her desire to go to school.
In Sweden, three schools have been granted permission to provide distance learning as special support for homeschoolers.
See facts below: From the Swedish School Inspectorate
● In 2021, the Education Act was amended so that schools can apply for permission to have distance learning as an additional method of special support.
● Since then, the Swedish School Inspectorate has received 131 applications. But only three have been granted permission:
These are:
Palmblandsskolan in Uppsala, Montessoriskolan
Elyseum in Gothenburg and
Sofia skola in Stockholm.</strong>
The most common reasons for rejection are:
● The school cannot show that it will receive enough students who can be considered, even from other schools.
● It cannot provide teaching of sufficiently high quality.
● It is unable to implement some mandatory teaching on site.
● “Home sitters” can be translated with the more correct expression “students with problematic school absences”.
